On Wednesday, my big hive produced TWO swarms! It happened while Angela and Thomas were out mowing the back yard and while I was stuck at work. The swarms had Angela cornered in one part of the back yard and she had to climb over the fence to escape. She thought the bees were really angry about something. Unfortunately, she did get stung once. When the swarms settled, I called a friend of mine that lived close by to see if he wanted to come and get them for his bee farm. And he was kind enough to just come and capture the swarms and box them up for me! Then when I got home, Angela and I quickly got some frames ready, I hived the swarms and settled them into my apiary. Now I’m up to three hives and a nuc! Tomorrow I’ll check on the new hives to make sure they’re staying put and starting to set up shop in their new homes. I’m very thankful for God’s amazing little creatures and for the kindness of people like my friend, David.
